Run MDI with Team Fox

team-fox-logo.jpg

Do something even greater than simply finishing MDI: Run with Team Fox in support of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research!

Thanks to the generous support of prominent donors, all costs incurred by MJFF to run the Team Fox program have been underwritten! As a result, 100% of all Team Fox proceeds go straight to our high-impact research programs to help speed a cure for Parkinson’s disease. That’s right. Every penny donated by our MDI Team Fox members will have maximum impact on advancing critical research efforts.

All Team Fox runners will receive a Team Fox jersey for race day! While there is no fundraising requirement for this event - any runner who raises $250 by race day will receive additional Team Fox swag. And as always, 100% of your fundraising goes straight to research programs at The Michael J. Fox Foundation!

Our Team Fox Connection

Our good friend and local runner, Michael Westphal, grew up on Great Cranberry Island. He and our race director, Gary Allen, attended the one-room schoolhouse and the two of them made up the entire 8th grade graduating class.

Once a stand-out high school, college, and post-collegiate runner, Mike stepped away from the competitive sport to raise his family. In 2006 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Two years ago he ran is first marathon in over 23 years, finishing in 3:32:56 -- a Boston Marathon qualifying time! Mike has used his running to bring awareness and over $60K in fundraising dollars to support the mission of the Michael J. Fox Foundation through Team Fox.

“With Parkinson’s, the first thing you’ve got to lose is your vanity, I used to kind of hide when it came to public events because I was embarrassed. People would look at me and not know what was wrong. But I think in the last few years through the running, although I’ve slowed it down a little, I’ve gotten back what I lost. Running is something I love to do, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop now. I want to prolong this feeling of life, and running, to me, has been a big part of that. If I can inspire people to get out there and do something --they don’t have to run a marathon-- they can just get out and do whatthey love, their life is going to be a little more joyful!” Michael Westphal
