FUNDRAISING:
Beyond the Finish Line
"Running for charity takes something that is inherently selfish and makes it selfless!"
Overview
Our Beyond the Finish Line program helps support the local communities of Mount Desert Island, where we run, as well as state, regional, and national organizations.
Many of these groups provide goods, services, and volunteers to help you reach your goals.
We encourage all participants to take their Run MDI experience Beyond the Finish Line!

How it Works
The Mount Desert Island Marathon is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our Beyond the Finish Line efforts have included the following:
Since the event’s inception in 2002, all proceeds from the Pre-Race Pasta Dinner have been donated to the MDIHS Music Boosters.
Since 2009, our optional fundraising program runners has been a catalyst to empower participants to use their personal race triumphs as a way to inspire others and drive support to worthy causes.
Since 2010, our unique Charity Bibs program has sought to challenge participants to fulfill a nominal fundraising commitment, in exchange for the opportunity to sign up for the race after general registration has reached capacity.
The MDI Marathon funds two scholarships that are awarded annually to MDIHS graduating seniors.
100% of MDI Marathon race sponsor proceeds benefit local organizations.
Local gifts and grants.
