MOUNT DESERT ISLAND MARATHON, HALF & RELAY - Waiver of Liability / Cancellation Policy / Registration Changes Policy / Race Materials Pick Up Policy / Charity Bib Fundraising Requirement

I agree to the following waiver of liability, cancellation policy, registration changes policy, and race materials pick up policy:

WAIVER OF LIABILITY:

In consideration of accepting this entry for myself or for the person that I am registering, I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release any and all rights and claims for damages I may have against this event, all towns/cities it occurs in, the event staging facilities, and any sponsors, as well as any person involved with this event.  I fully understand that I, or the person I am responsible for, will be subjected to roads and trails that may have uneven terrain, rocks, roots, and other obstacles, but that I am physically fit and have sufficiently prepared for this race.  My physical condition has been verified by a licensed medical doctor.

I further agree to abide by local and national public healthy agency/department recommendations for the prevention of the spread of communicable diseases.  (See FAQ page [runmdi.org/faq] for more information.)  I assume all such risks being known, appreciated, and accepted by me.  In addition, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and/or other communicable diseases by participating in this event.  I acknowledge that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and/or death.  I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 and/or communicable diseases in connection with my participation in this event and personally assume this risk.

I hereby grant full permission for the event to use any photos, videos, or any other record of this event for any purpose whatsoever.  Furthermore, I understand that my entry into this event is NON-REFUNDABLE and that no refunds will be issued regardless of reason, which includes even if the event is not held.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

In consideration of accepting this entry for myself or for the person that I am registering, I, the undersigned, understand that entry fees, including optional add-ons, and/or charity donations, are non-refundable.  No exceptions.  (A limited number of deferrals may be available, see FAQ page [runmdi.org/faq] for more information.)  I understand that optional add-ons, and/or charity donations, are non-refundable.  No exceptions.  I acknowledge that this no-refund policy is clearly posted and must be agreed to at the time of registration.  I understand that this policy applies to all entrants and is in effect whether my plans change, or I become injured, or if I have an unexpected family emergency / business emergency / medical emergency / or if I am unable to participate for any other reason not already listed above.  I understand that that once I have paid the entry fee, I will not receive a refund if I cannot participate, or if the event is canceled because of weather, natural disaster, public health crisis, unforeseen circumstances, or for any other reason not already listed above.  I understand that income generated from entry fees is almost entirely expended prior to race day.  I understand that bib numbers, race materials, and/or other incentive items will not be mailed.  I understand that the race committee reserves the right to accept or reject any entries.

REGISTRATION CHANGES POLICY:

In consideration of accepting this entry for myself or for the person that I am registering, I, the undersigned, understand and acknowledge the following registration updates policy:

  • Switching race distances:  I understand that changing from one race distance to another will only be permitted if the desired event has not already filled to capacity.  No exceptions.  I understand that all race changes must be completed by 11:59PM on September 1st. I understand that unauthorized race distance switches are not allowed.

  • Transferring registration to someone else:  I understand that transferring my registration to someone requires a $20 fee to be paid by the new runner.  I understand that Charity Bibs and Invitational/Elite Entries are not eligible for transfer.  I understand that all race changes must be completed by 11:59PM on September 1st.  I understand that unauthorized transfers are not allowed.

  • Deferring registration to next year: I understand that there may be a limited number of deferrals available if I would like to move my registration to next year’s event.  I understand that no new deferrals will be accepted after September 1st.  I understand that deferring my entry requires a $20 fee to be paid at the time of the deferral.  I understand that optional add-ons are not eligible for deferral.  I understand that race entries may not be deferred more than one year.  I understand that it is my responsibility to claim my entry when prompted for the following year.

RACE MATERIALS PICK UP POLICY:

In consideration of accepting this entry for myself or for the person that I am registering, I, the undersigned, understand and acknowledge that bib numbers, race materials, and/or other incentive items must be picked up in person at the Pre-Race Expo [runmdi.org/pre-race-expo] by the registered entrant with photo ID.  I understand that I may not use FaceTime, Zoom, or any other video chat or phone call to have someone else pick up my bib number.  I understand that there are no exceptions to the in person bib pick up policy.  I understand that bib numbers, race materials, and/or other incentive items will not be mailed.  I understand that it is the responsibility of the registered participant to plan accordingly to attend the Pre-Race Expo [runmdi.org/pre-race-expo].  I understand that by not attending the Pre-Race Expo [runmdi.org/pre-race-expo] I am forfeiting my incentive items.

FUNDRAISING REQUIREMENT (CHARITY BIBS ONLY):

In consideration of accepting this entry for myself or for the person that I am registering, I, the undersigned, understand that there is a $250 minimum fundraising requirement to register with a Charity Bib.  I understand and acknowledge that a personal fundraising page will be created upon the successful completion of registration and that this is the only platform that may be used to collect donations.  I understand and acknowledge that the $250 required fundraising minimum must be completed by October 1st in order to pick up my bib number and other race materials.  I understand that if I do not meet the required $250 fundraising minimum my registration will be canceled and my entry fee will be donated.
